Surprise! You're Poor Now!
Had to take some time off from blogging when I went back to work--lots to do for a public school teacher at the end of the school year. But now I'm back with lots more "new mommy" wisdom. Going back to work had its own unique set of challenges, the hardest of which was adjusting to my new paycheck. To my shock and disappointment, my paycheck for the remainder of the school year was HALF as much as it had been before I went on unpaid maternity leave. Apparently, there were logical calculations involved and it's all perfectly legal, but the bottom line is: it totally stinks!
Never being one to wallow in self pity, I quickly regrouped and decided to tackle the now very tricky problem of adequately feeding, clothing, and providing my family with basic necessities. Of course, we did still have my husband's full pay check and I did get a part time job which was helpful but things were--and continue to be--pretty tight financially. I learned some things about shopping and saving money that I want to pass on to new moms everywhere.
The best things in life are free, but sadly, groceries are not...
Maternity Shopping with Mommysaurus
If the choice had been mine, I would've spent my entire pregnancy in sweatpants and Led Zepplin t-shirts--both of which I have a hearty collection. Point is, I would've spent no money on maternity clothes if I didn't have to. Sadly, this could not be my reality. My job as a public school teacher required me to wear professional attire which meant that, much as I didn't want to, I had to somehow acquire a fair amount of maternity clothes. And, in spite of what you may have heard about public school teachers' salaries on the news lately, I didn't have much money to spend. But I've always been a resourceful gal, so I managed to find a few tricks to maximize my maternity wardrobe without breaking my bank. I hope you find them just as useful as I did!
to my surprise

So i first want to say thank you ahmarr, ahli, & shanae for the opportunity & the trust you have in me.
my introduction to parenthood was not planned nor celebrated. it was actually very dissapointing and almost didn't happen.
i was a track runner, debate club participant, the cool chick at school, the good girl, preparing to go into the navy's officer program, and a virgin who had only had sex once. people thought i was gay because i wasn't "giving it up", so i thought i was "safe" u can't get pregnant on your first time, right?
Considering Vomit
(This is one of the most popular posts from my own blog, so I've decided to repost here for you all. A little about me: I'm a 27-year-old first time mom and I just had my baby on January 4th of this year. Thank goodness he is a sweet, easy baby--because, as you will read below, he put me through the ringer during my pregnancy. Hope you enjoy.
Regards,
Mommysaurus Rex)
If you have a weak stomach and you're still with me in spite of the post title, now is a good time stop reading. It's going to get gross. I promise.
